SYMPTOMS ASSOCIATED WITH NON-ASPERGILLUS MOLD INFECTIONS
Symptoms associated with non-Aspergillus molds infection do not have a consistent pattern due to several factors:
- Individual fungal pathogens can affect the body in different ways, resulting in different symptoms.
- Different parts of the body can be infected with a non-Aspergillus mold. Subsequently, symptoms will likely manifest according to the site of infection. For example:
- A lung infection (pneumonia) may present with cough.
- A skin or soft tissue infection may present as a new rash or pain at a specific part of the body.
- A sinus infection may present with headache or changes in vision.
- Patients are unique and may respond to these infections differently than other patients based on their overall level of health, other medical conditions, and circumstances regarding their fungal exposure.
There are no symptoms that are specific to these infections. However, there are some symptoms that are more commonly associated with certain types of infections caused by non-Aspergillus mold infections. Patients with a compromised immune system are at higher risk for infection than the general population.
