2026 MyCARE Stakeholder Summit

The 2026 MyCARE Stakeholder Summit will bring together patients and caregivers with lived experience of invasive fungal infections, along with clinicians, researchers, advocates, and other stakeholders, to address specific challenges affecting people who develop these infections in the setting of hematologic malignancies and stem cell transplantation, solid organ transplantation and biologic therapies, as well as those affected by antifungal-resistant infections. Building on focus groups conducted with individuals from these patient and clinical communities to identify their needs, experiences, and priorities, the Summit will turn what we heard into practical strategies and solutions designed to make a difference where they matter most. From the community, for the community.

Monday, September 7 — Welcome Reception, 5:00–8:00 PM

Tuesday, September 8 — Stakeholder Summit, 7:30 AM–3:00 PM

Location: Omni Interlocken Hotel, Broomfield, Colorado

Why We Are Gathering

Putting Patient Priorities at the Center

Serious fungal infections can have profound and lasting effects on patients
and families. Yet patient experiences and priorities have historically not
always been represented in the conversations that shape research, education,
policy, and care.

The MyCARE Stakeholder Summit is designed to help change that. Rather than
simply presenting information to patients, the meeting is structured around
listening to patients and caregivers and bringing their perspectives into
direct conversation with clinicians, researchers, advocates, and other
stakeholders within specific patient and clinical communities.

Research

What questions matter most to patients and families? Where are the
greatest evidence gaps, and how can patient perspectives help shape
future research?

Education

What information do patients, caregivers, clinicians, and communities
need, and how can fungal disease education become more useful,
accessible, and responsive?

Advocacy

How can patients and caregivers become stronger advocates for themselves,
their patient and clinical communities, and broader change in fungal disease awareness,
research, and policy?

A Collaborative Meeting

Different Perspectives. Shared Purpose.

The Summit is intentionally bringing together people who approach fungal
disease from different perspectives. Patients and caregivers bring lived
experience. Clinicians and researchers bring scientific and medical
expertise. Advocates bring experience creating change, building communities,
and elevating patient voices. Representatives from different patient and clinical
communities bring unique perspectives and challenges to the discussion.

Creating opportunities for these groups to listen to one another can reveal
priorities that may otherwise be missed—and can help build stronger,
more patient-centered partnerships for the future.

Powered by Patients means beginning with
the experiences, questions, challenges, and priorities of the people whose
lives are directly affected by fungal disease.

Looking Ahead

From Conversation to Action

The Summit is designed not simply to continue the conversation, but to turn what we have heard into action. Together, participants will identify practical strategies to strengthen awareness, education, communication, support, care, and research within patient and clinical communities, while identifying insights and approaches that can advance fungal disease research and care more broadly. The goal is to translate clinical community priorities into meaningful solutions, identify opportunities for collaboration, and create momentum that continues well beyond the Summit. From the community, for the community—and beyond.
